Brittany Sugg & Sara Larkins are two passionate teachers who want to bring awareness to our Fishers Elementary School students about ways to reduce stress and cope with their feelings.
We want all students to know that is okay to feel a certain type of emotion and explore all of the positive/healthy ways to handle their feelings and emotions. We want to bring AWARENESS to mental health to our school as well as community.
Our goal is for our classes to participate in a service learning project by hosting art show to encourage students to show WHAT THEY LOVE AND HELP THEM RELIEVE STRESS. The money we make at the Art Show will be donated to the the Peyton Riekhof Foundation for Youth Hope.
We would like to kick off our art show fundraiser by having Mike Riekhof (Peyton Riekhof’s Father) to come in for an assembly and talk to the kids about managing their feelings (using Inside Out Characters). Unfortunately, Mike’s daughter, Peyton lost her battle with depression at the early age of 18 on July 18th, 2013. And he wants to share Peyton’s story with the youth in raising awareness for mental health.
